Introduction to ICARUS:
ICARUS is a PvE survival game with Mission-based and Open World modes for up to eight co-op players.
Survive in the harsh wilderness of Icarus, an Earth-like planet that turned into humanity’s biggest mistake. From their orbital station, players drop to the planet to explore, gather resources, craft items, and hunt for survival. Face a tough PvE world that tries to break you down.
Icarus has a dangerous environment with toxic air with wild animals and apex predators alot of storms and forest fires. You need to prepare and plan everything like finding oxygen hunting for food or storing supplies for long journeys.
You can play alone, invite up to 8 Steam friends, or play on dedicated servers.
The First Cohort of players can mine over 128 square kilometers of hand-crafted terrain across two maps (Olympus and Styx). There are hidden caves. You can harvest every tree and mine every rock and hunt every creature. Tame and ride mounts, craft advanced tech to get resources faster, and get ready for bigger challenges.
Master three tech trees: planetary tech, player talents, and the orbital workshop. Unlock four tiers of technology from hand-made items to advanced electronics, and 7 different building materials. Choose from over 100 talents to specialize in exploring, building, farming, hunting, taming, fighting, and more. Return to the orbital workshop to trade exotic matter for advanced tech and unique items for your next drop.
There are three game modes: Open World, timed Missions, and creative Outposts. In Open World, fight for survival against the elements and predators. In timed Missions, mine exotics and earn Ren by completing tasks. Start with nothing, build a base, and escape in time. In Outposts, use your creativity in safe environments with regenerating resources.
About the world Icarus. Icarus was meant to be a second Earth but terraforming failed making the air toxic. Humanity’s hope of colonizing it died, and Icarus became a joke. The xeno-engineers salvaged what they could and stopped the terraforming.
They found exotic matter which sparked new interest and started a gold rush. Those who survive go back to orbit with advanced tech. Those who don’t are lost forever.
